There are many protruding threads on the tread. I used it in an serger with slightly higher tension settings and the thread broke about every 200 meters. There were some random fibers connected to the thread that couldn't go through the needle, likely due to minor breaks in the tensioner crumpled in the stitch mechanism. The mechanism had a thread thread that indicated how cheap the thread was. After a few turns in the coil cone, there was some brown debris on a roll that definitely wouldn't go through the car, so I had to walk about 30 yards before I could get the cone into the car. The cheaper floss is good for learning the different stitches you want to cast. It's nice to be able to burn through a lot of threads without worrying about wasting them. A new Serger user will learn to hate Serger because of the poor stream quality.
