Yesterday it was 18F and I went out in a t-shirt and this coat. It was wonderful and warm. Plus, according to Columbia's website, it's responsibly sourced. A rise in the back makes your silhouette more attractive - a rarity in puffy jackets. Haven't seen how it handles high winds and snow yet, but for now I'm very happy with my purchase. UPDATE: I've had this coat for 4 months now and have downgraded it to 3 stars. Pros - The coat is super warm and looks flattering; uses responsibly sourced down. The length is good. Cons: If you're spending $300 on a heavy winter jacket, it needs a functional hood. I was out in minus (F) and the hood wouldn't stay up; it also turned out that the high neck is so narrow that i couldn't hide my nose behind it. I was unhappy. This design flaw made the warm case somewhat redundant. Also, my hair and scarves get caught in the Velcro all the time, which is quite a hassle. In addition, the wool has a strange smell that has not completely disappeared even after 4 months. That's it.
