I've only been using these for a few weeks but haven't noticed any noise at all that is so characteristic of other wheels. The base allows you to adjust the height of the wheel, which is very convenient. So that it doesn't get stuck underground. That won't stop animals from burying it in so much substrate that it won't turn, but there's not much that can be done about it. The smooth plastic also makes cleaning easier. Overall I am very happy with my purchase! I even ordered more to replace other wheels.
