I recently upgraded my owner's TP (twisted pair) for her phone and I have to tell you that it works. As for the material, I gave it 3 stars because it's twisted pair and not a solid cable, which if you're connecting to an external telecom box you'll want to use a solid cable. However, in my case, with all the twists and turns, the core turned out to be twisting. Will it improve DSL speed? It depends on both the distance to the telecom company building and your plan. What I'm saying is that in general our signal level has improved a lot, so the quality of our data throughput, but not our speed. In our case, she asked me to run the cable along other electrical wires that would normally reduce and interfere with parallel electrical signals, so the shielding greatly improved the signal over the previous unshielded and untwisted Cat3 pair. When we pull games from the Steam server in Washington, we get a constant 2.8 Mbit / s compared to the previous needle, hoping between 1.9 and 2.9 Mbit / s. The cable is for VDSL (ie 50 Mbit /s) designed. So if you're on a higher speed plan, you could theoretically get choked on cables other than this one. In other words, if you're using what the phone company gave you, switch to that one or ask them to install it for you. For the external wiring, after installing it in the phone box, I wrapped the cable in UV protected electrical tape to protect it from the elements. I would not bury this cable. I would also use a DSL/phone splitter, an external optional DSL/phone splitter, or an internal DSL/phone splitter. The splitter is not a microfilter (i.e. a key that the phone company sticks in a wall outlet), the splitter actually splits the line signal into two separate signals rather than filtering the signals. With this cable and splitter, our DSL quality has greatly improved, although our speed hasn't changed. I hope this review helps and I will upload photos later.
