I tightened the handles to keep them from wrinkling. It seems to work. However, when you place a drink on this tray, the condensate from the cup forms a ring on the tray. I've only done this a few times and I'm concerned that the bottom of the tray will even become usable. So if you use them for decoration, you're good to go. If you're really looking for a tray to eat/drink on, I'd look elsewhere.
