I've been doing digital art occasionally for the last 10 years and recently decided to go back to physical media for a change. I have watercolor paints that I recently bought and decided to buy. However, after researching I found out that canvases like this are not usually meant for watercolors as the fabric of the canvas absorbs water. But when you read their description, it is advertised that they work with watercolors, so I decided to give it a try. In fact, it works great with watercolor. I realize that my watercolors are not solid paints in bowls, but viscous liquids kept in tubes; You squeeze out as much color as you want, then dilute it with as much water as you want. I started by painting most of the canvas blue with thick, thinner paint and the canvas soaked up a lot of the paint. Layer by layer I finally got a light blue sky. Then I added more color to the diluted blue mix to fix the color and ended up with the almost average blue you see on the panel above. In fact, I had to apply some diluted white paint to brighten the sky near the mountains. The mountains were covered with several layers of grey, black and brown, until finally I painted them with black paint that wasn't heavily thinned and textured them with grey. and white. The same with the overgrown plain in the foreground; several coats of diluted greens until finally I used less diluted paint. In summary, this was the panel I was best at painting wet on dry as it gave me the most control over paint flow and behavior. very bright picture. I'm hoping to get some oil or acrylic paint soon and start painting on the other panels. If I can get them to work with heavy watercolor paint I'm sure they will work great with acrylic or oil paint. UPDATE: I have since used more of these panels in acrylic and oil paintings and have no complaints! The canvas coverings of these panels do not absorb paint, but only moderately thin paint runs down the panel when tilted up; All other colors will stick to the panels and stay in place. In my original review, I posted a photo of my watercolor painting: an overgrown plain surrounded by dark mountains and a cloudy blue sky. I added a photo of an acrylic painting, a rocky area against a sunset sky, and a photo of my first oil painting, a bird perched on a floating island (bird is facing away from viewer). Although I had difficulties with all three paintings (as I'm sure you can see!), the problems were due to my lack of experience and articulation. These canvases are a solid product and their reliability is helping me through my difficult transition from digital to physical art.
