Not exactly sure how it works but it works. It has no odor and is completely transparent, but I can tell a difference in our dog's breath after using it for a few days. We have tried other water supplements in the past and our dogs have not drunk the water. - as if they thought we would poison them! When I first added this to their water it foamed like foam and I figured the dogs would definitely turn their backs on it. To my surprise, all 5 enjoyed it! We use a 1 gallon bowl with a water stopper which takes 16 full caps of solution (1 cap per 8 oz - 126 oz per gallon) - to make my life easier I measured this. once and marked it on a small mug, then I just fill that mug to the line when I fill her water bowl once a day. If they drink more than one bowl a day, I only do one supplement. Our dogs fight us when brushing our teeth, so we're always looking for ways to brush our teeth in other ways. I think this supplement is a quality product and you will be pleased with the results after using it. UPDATE: AFTER SOME USE FOR A FEW DAYS, TWO OF OUR 5 DOGS HAVE DEVELOPED DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS - VOMITING AND DIARRHEA. THIS THE ONLY THING CHANGED IN THEIR DIET WE SUGGEST IS THE REASON.
