Very good radio in perfect condition

For many years I have been restoring old tube radios and building high-quality tube amps and preamps. I love lamps and while they can do magic when implemented correctly, the same goes for solids. This little radio is proof of that. This radio was built in November 2013 and is very well packaged. Included was a power cord, remote control, FM wire antenna (gold plated - a nice touch), manual in the form of a book and a small pouch of silica gel in foam wrapped around the radio (again a nice touch). . thick two-piece egg carton in the box. I don't see that with most electronics. (Most styrofoam is installed at the ends). All this in a high-quality packaging. I like. The processing quality is impeccable. Fit and finish are perfect, no scratches. I plugged in the included antenna, flipped the switch to external, and booted it up. My first impression was that this little guy couldn't possibly sound that loud, but I was pleasantly surprised. It might be a bit bass-heavy to some, but I like a good, tight low-end and this thing is a treat. It replaced my old 1959 Zenith H884 tube radio on my kitchen counter. It just works better. I haven't programmed the alarm clock yet, but everything else with a bang. I have the iPod connected to Aux. and fed with music. Works and sounds ok. I haven't done anything with Bluetooth yet. As other reviews indicate, FM has good selectivity (on par with my 670 12 tube pilot) and excellent sensitivity. There is nothing special about Am. A pocket radio can work, so a good external antenna may be required. I still don't listen to AM. In Fm this thing shines. If you turn the volume down to your liking and then sit 10 to 15 feet away, the audio will seem a little louder. This thing carries and fills. I bought the wr-22 because I don't need the wr-2's white background screen. Also, the wr-2 is not available in dark walnut. The wr-22 has a BLACK screen background with whitish blue indicators. Really nice at night, plus it can be dimmed up to three levels, or you can dim it. All button icons are highlighted, as well as the Sangean logo. These lights are also muted. Dark walnut looks like laminate made over a thicker piece of wood. (Cabinet). It's not a cheap imitation and well made. Polish it with a good furniture polish and it will be richer. Love! The front panel isn't metal like the w-2, but some kind of plastic with a mirror finish. The speaker grille is made of metal and is durable. The back is well thought out with all inputs and outputs. AM antenna connectors are not flimsy tabs with screws. They are strong and tighten. I like it. There is nothing flimsy about this radio. In general I am satisfied. This is a good kit and will not disappoint anyone who wants a great sounding, well built desktop radio. By the way. some people claim that 10% THD is a lot. Not really. What they don't take into account is the fact that the power rating is given at FULL POWER at 100 Hz. There are many things that will do more than that at full power at 100Hz. The most commonly advertised distortion values are given as 1W at 1kHz. Why the Sangean shows full power at 100 Hz is quite strange. But that's what it is. TO UPDATE. I recommend starting in a few days. The bass is tightened and gets much better. And no, it's not my ears that get used to it, most of my remodeling and restorations do too to some extent. Turn the bass, treble and volume all the way up and tune to a rock station at a moderate volume leave it on for a few days and then adjust as you like. That is amazing. it's pretty weird.
