Review on SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC Black Wired Gaming Headset - Certified Hi-Res Audio - Dedicated DAC and Amp - for PS5, PS4, and PC by James Jenkins

Good headphone. while it works.

I will say that I really liked the headset while it worked. I found it very convenient and has a good range so I can hear sounds through the headset even if I'm far away. I had no problems with sound, microphone quality or anything like that. However, for a $330 headset, the build quality is unacceptable. After about 4 months of use, the headphones broke with regular use. The plastic around the part that connects the cups to the strap broke while I was wearing it, causing the headset to come loose. It was still "wearable" but the shell didn't make full contact with my head and it was quite uncomfortable. The wiring was exposed as well, which I suspect led to the headset's eventual and complete death. I tried supergluing the broken part, which worked somewhat, but was by no means a permanent solution. After a few weeks, the headset had difficulty turning on, often involving multiple attempts to turn the headset on. A week later, the headset would not turn on at all. If I had scolded my headset, I might have noticed that it broke. But the failure of such an expensive product when used as intended is just ridiculous. I suspect it couldn't handle the strain caused by the headset opening up around my head, which caused it to break. It kind of makes sense because I have a huge head. Oh wait, that's not even true. I have a fairly normal sized head. Normally, when I wear adjustable caps, all but two of the spikes are connected. It may even be considered small, but my head is far from abnormal in size. Conclusion: the physical failure of the headset after 4-5 months of regular use, as well as failure with normal use is unacceptable for such an expensive and high-quality device. Otherwise it's a good product, but don't worry if it breaks so easily.

Pros
  • For best PS5 compatibility, user should change Sony PS5 settings to disable Sony 3D Audio and then increase the default volume to 100%.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
