Review on πŸ’‘ GeeekPi USB Isolator Module ADUM3160 - High-Voltage Protection for USB Devices with Digital Isolation (5KV ESD Max) by Antonio Bacon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Features an eFuse fuse that mates with computer cable adapters

Unlike many isolators, this one has an eFuse fuse on the 5V output, so if you short the output, your power converter won't burn out. Given that this is used to power weird prototypes and the wires are randomly swapped, this is important (for me, I fried a few insulators this way, anyway). Now if you get one of those other isolators that don't have an eFuse output, it won't damage your computer. It just starts a small stinky fire and we can handle it, but you're out of isolation, which is inconvenient. Also, you are more likely to damage the target you connected via Mos, since a higher current will flow through it (e.g. if you connect the power supply in reverse direction, the current will flow through some body connections, and a high current more likely to cause damage). Anyway, that covers it. It has a direct Adum3160 connected at 12Mbps, no low-speed switch and no IC hub. So for full functionality you might want to use this thing with a powered hub. Given eFuse and the fact that I always need a good amount of 5V and more than one USB port on the target side I still need to use a hub so this fixture is perfect. Highly recommended - at least for laboratory use. One thing - the clear plastic case has a welded-on feel, so you can't get to the circuitry inside and can remove the case if needed. I don't really like it, but it's not an indicator
