This was a replacement for an existing unit of the same model number. from the same manufacturer. The old device stopped working and seemed easier to replace than fix. It would be easier to fix the old one. The new device is quite different from the one I had which was about ten years old. Many features of the old device were removed, apparently to save production costs. I learned that the old block was specifically designed to replace the internal transformer, change wiring connections, etc. all from the bottom of the block with no access from above. This new block does not have these features. You cannot access internal components such as the transformer through the lamp as the lamp body is not removable. Everything is glued, not screwed. In addition, the cabinet is not adjustable to accommodate different ceiling thicknesses. They used a stamped canopy body with a rounded top that prevents the retaining springs on my existing pad from fully sinking into the body. I had to heat the feathers with a flashlight to cut and bend the new ears to fit. If I had to do it again, I would look for something different. Not recommended.
