I am still delighted after being voted the unanimous winner of this year's Family Gingerbread House Contest. I might not have had the greatest amount of lollipops, marshmallows, or gummies, but by God, I had something else. Christmas lights! Really cool Christmas lights! I knew it was in my pocket as soon as I hit the power button. The other members watched in awe as my gingerbread house came to life, the colorful lights dancing, chasing, flickering, changing colors, fading in and out. The competition is over. It was much fun. It was worth every penny I paid, and honestly I think the price was very good for what you get: two separate sets of 100 multi-function colored LED Christmas lights (with remote control) for $12.99 . I particularly liked the option of being able to use any type of battery. OR the USB connector that came with the bulbs for power. Made it very versatile and mobile. I mainly worked with battery powered flashlights. They have been running for several hours over the holidays and the batteries still seem to be dead. These are multi-function or multi-mode lights with 8 individual settings. #1 is a combination or cyclic alternation of functions 2-7, and #8 is a constant "ON" (no blinking, etc.) light. All of these functions are accessible via the remote control OR there is a single button on the controller/battery pack that you can press multiple times to turn "ON" and cycle through all 8 functions and back to "OFF". It's great that you can still control these lights even when the remote isn't there. The dimmer/brightness function is good. These lights can be quite bright and some people find them a bit overwhelming at brighter levels. It's worth noting that you don't have access to the dimmer controls on the controller/battery box, they only seem to be available on the remote. Do not check how waterproof / waterproof the product is. The box appears to have seals and something that doesn't prevent water from escaping. The instructions say not to submerge the box in water so I'm assuming the wires/lamps are waterproof and the box is waterproof. The lamps are quite durable. I had to shorten the spacing between the LEDs to make it look right on my gingerbread house, so I had to fold, twist, bend, stretch, etc. a lot of wires, and then twist, bend, stretch, etc. to make it fit the shape of my house. I really feel like I totally abused this product and it still works. We really had a lot of fun with these lights. Affordable entertainment for adults and children. I have a feeling I'll have tougher competition next year :).
