I liked that they were wider and thicker than normal zippers. I was able to attach 3 thick cables to a pipe in my basement and it's secure. I have 12 inches. Even if there are extra overhangs at the end, they can be trimmed with a pair of sturdy scissors (regular scissors won't work, the ribbons are thick). When using them, make sure you go through the correct side of the hole, if you go through the wrong side it won't "tear" or tighten and you will think you have a defective item.
