Review on CURT 11377 Class 1 Trailer Hitch: 1-1/4-Inch Receiver for Mazda 3 - Black by Steven Doty

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good hitch, easy installation, poor shipping

I know this has been said in other reviews but Curt/Revain needs to expedite shipping of these products. I bought two of these and they both came "bare" with just a piece of cardboard wrapped around the support bar and bubble wrap around the hitch receiver. I sent back the first one delivered by UPS because it was scratched in many places and the mounting material was missing. The second arrived in much better condition via Revain and USPS. However, during installation I had trouble aligning one of the holes in the machine. So if my car's frame isn't bent (it isn't), then the hitch was either not straightened or slightly bent during shipping. I was able to position it, but man, it wasn't easy. They tout how easy it is to install yourself, which is how it should be, but the shipping methods just aren't great. At the very least, they should wrap the entire hitch in something, not just the cross member. Aside from the mismatched hole hook mentioned above, the installation on my 2017 Mazda3 Hatchback was very easy and not overly complicated. I did it myself using a jack to raise the exhaust pipe and a jack to help me raise and support the hitch. I also drove up the ramps by car for better access. It's probably faster with two people, but not by much. A lot of time wasted/wasted just going through things and figuring out how to fish out wires etc. I could probably do the same thing in half the time. In general I am satisfied. For the price paid, it represents excellent value for money and greatly increases the usefulness of my car. I bought this hitch with the intention of using a bike rack but will probably use it to carry cargo and other things in the future. If you are looking for a towbar for your Mazda3, this is a good choice!
