Installed by myself 8 months ago. I decided to wait to check until I figured it out. Since the sound rating is subjective, I had to play with the settings of this unit (as well as the main unit and the external amplifier) until I got exactly what I wanted. I paired it with the stock Entune Audio Plus box in my 2016 Camry XSE, a Clarion XC1410 mini amp and 6 Kicker speakers. The results were amazing! Good, clean sound, lots of pressure. I didn't want to smash windows or announce my arrival/presence with annoying, bass-heavy bangs. I rarely touch the bass remote. I installed this device in the back of the fold down rear seat so there is no room in the trunk either. Excellent quality for the price I paid. Great sound and at the same time valuable space in the car and in the trunk. UPDATE: I have replaced the front door and dash speakers with 6.5 component/tweeters and also switched to a 100x4 amp. I figured I'd have to replace the subwoofer with a louder, more powerful one. The changes allowed me to increase the gain of the subwoofer, which gave me even better sound. I will probably stay with this setup for the life of the car. I just hope the sub lasts long as I don't plan on upgrading in the future.
