Started peeling off after 5 weeks. Disappointed

I have a 15lb Mini Golden Doodle. I've had this leash for less than 6 weeks and it's wearing out and I'm afraid it will come loose. After a 4 week return I think I received a defective leash. A small dog like mine shouldn't have destroyed this item.
