This shredder was a real disappointment and I had to return it. The first time I used it, it worked perfectly. I didn't care about the slot you put the paper in because it's very narrow and you have to line the paper up correctly to feed it, but I was willing to live with it. However, two days later I tried again and the "Safe Sense" light was constantly on and wouldn't go off no matter what I tried. If the Safe Sense light is on, the grinder is not working at all. I emailed Fellowes support and they just said to try moving the shredder to a different location as the Safe Sense light is sensitive to temperature changes as it feels warm and thinks it is Your hand is, so it turns off for security reasons. But moving to another place did not help. It didn't work at all which was very frustrating. So returned and bought an Office Depot Ativa branded shredder which I am very happy with, not only because the Safe Sense feature doesn't fail, but also because the paper slot is not as narrow as the Fellowes paper slot. was, and therefore pasting paper is much easier.
