It's not well done.

After only 3 months one of the two ring heads of the lamp broke off. There were actually two problems with this lamp: 1) the aforementioned weakness around the lamp heads, 2) the flexible necks for lamp positioning were VERY stiff - almost like they were made for much heavier ring lamps. The force required to move these necks probably contributed to loosening the lamp connection (see fig.).
