I bought these Presta valve caps in case I lose them. The purpose of these caps is to protect complex valve parts from cleanliness. I don't use them to prevent air from leaking out of a valve, nor are they designed for that. Presta valves are a bit fragile, especially when compared to the more reliable Schraeder valves. These aluminum alloy recoil pads can be damaged by over-tightening, but are more resistant to damage than plastic. These caps are expensive, especially when compared to plastic caps, but the color options make up for the added cost. These caps should last as long as your bike.
