Review on KINGPiiN Engraving Exclusive Cufflinks Business Men's Accessories by Andrew Roll

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A little attractive, but I think Kingpiin has more attractive options.

Cufflinks used to be the way to fasten shirt cuffs, period. Apparently, at least according to Wikipedia, buttons have come to dominate shirts since the 1970s. Personally, I'm more and more accepting of minimalism in all areas of my life, so sticking to buttons is becoming more and more common. But I gave myself just a little liberty when contemplating a sort of signature look in my personal wardrobe and decided to add a pair of clean white shirts with French cuffs to wear as an elevated casual look that called for cufflinks. I went with the John Hardy silver and onyx set, which looks great but is obscenely expensive. But it was my birthday, so I made milkweed. Anyway, back to the topic under discussion, these Kingpiin links. I have ordered another round pair from them and have given them a full 5 stars. The design was subtle and detailed, almost in the Byzantine style. At less than $25, it's easy to mistake them for something much more expensive. It's not as if price is the only measure of attractiveness, although you usually get what you pay for. But I really like them and wear them with pride; everything except the copper tint, which I'd rather be a pure silver color, although of course it's just a regular metal. Based on other links from Kingpiin I had high hopes for this set. They've arrived and I'm not thrilled. Because the design is in a thicker lined format, it seems to emphasize the lack of precision and detail. It looks heavy, bloated and well, just plain cheap. From a distance, what people see of course is acceptable. But I think part of owning and demonstrating the value of everything we own is how it makes you feel. And the rougher and more ornate look of these things doesn't make me feel a positive connection. Okay, maybe that description sounds weird, but it just doesn't look or feel like a quality product, although at this price point it's still not expensive and does the job. If you are looking for a set and why would you be on this page if you weren't, I would advise you to at least compare it to other offerings from Kingpiin at the same price. The links photo represents them really accurately, so if you like blurred lines and a bit of a puffy look, you might be fine with that. I give them two and a half stars.
