Review on Sony PCMCIA Memory Stick Reader by Ashwin Chauhan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Use your memory card like a hundred floppy disks!

I need a rewritable medium that 1) is as easy to use as a floppy disk and 2) can store as much information (if not more) as a CD - RW (Rewritable CD). I found my solution with this Sony PC Card to Memory Card Adapter. This adapter, which fits in my PC bay (which most laptops have), allows me to insert and remove a memory card like a floppy disk. Disc. (Imagine if you had a Memory Stick reader built into your laptop, and you'll get the idea.) Memory Stick is also a lot more convenient (and quieter) than using CD-RW (which has a dedicated drive is required). And since a Memory Stick can store up to 128MB of data, the device's usable storage capacity is nearly 100 times that of a traditional floppy disk (which only holds about 1.44MB of information). With memory cards—and an adapter—I can now transfer data, music, or digital image files between my computers, or between my photo printers, PDAs, and MP3 players that use or accept the Memory Stick format. so installation was easy. I was also happy to learn that my laptop ignores the PC card adapter and memory stick during startup, so I don't have to unplug the adapter to start the computer (cool!). Although flash drives are slightly more expensive than floppy disks, their reusability makes them economical. The computer reads them like any other hard drive or storage device, so storing or retrieving data is very easy. Best of all, thanks to their larger capacity, I don't run out of disk space as quickly as I always do with floppy disks. I like using memory sticks and this Sony PC card adapter (for data storage and transfer). And most importantly, I hope I never have to use another disk again! Hallelujah!
