Whatever gasket you use for your thermostats, use felpro whenever possible. I used a high tack caulking glue for the back (not much) to hold it in place and you just bolt it on with zero RTV, black silicone etc, you just don't need it with this gasket. You must love the Felpro design. However, do not use silicone in place of high tack. They even tell you on this site never to use silicone with seals and use a strong tack sealant. A lot of people use silicone and it will just leak later on after it's finally squeezed out. And the felpro website is a great resource for installing these seals. You just don't need silicone! That's why I love Felpro pads.[
