The hardware seems to be of good quality. The power button is a bit tacky, but you don't have to use it too often. There are no instructions so if you can get it with no hard drive or memory you'll have to find out for yourself, but it looks like the HD is attached to the bottom of the unit with 4 HD screws. There is a small rubber pad that prevents the HD from making contact with the case. The memory module I bought (only has 1 slot) was (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ACODGMC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). This worked great (I added it and the system wouldn't boot for some reason. I noticed that the memory isn't completely full, so make sure it's solid). Once downloaded, everything was easy. I installed pfsense with no problems and it correctly detected all network ports. The temperature stays at around 27 degrees. There isn't much CPU usage on the device, so it stays cool. I would recommend this device to anyone who wants to test the firewall.
