When I installed it I connected it up exactly as the instructions say. The PWM is connected to the MB's CPU fan header, the CPU fan is connected to the controller's CPU fan header, and all other case fans are connected to other controller's fan headers. This resulted in all case fans running at the speed intended by the motherboard ONLY for the CPU fan. This meant that all fans were running faster than they should, and small changes in CPU activity would noisily change the speed of all fans at once. It was distracting. So instead I took a CPU fan and connected it to the CPU fan header on the MB and the PWN cable from the controller to the system fan header on the MB. This significantly quieted the entire machine and significantly reduced the annoying changes in noise levels as the system load changed, all without a noticeable difference in thermal performance. My rating above is based on how well it performs in this configuration, NOT how well it performs for its intended purpose. Construction.
