That's what you'd expect from a cheaper frying pan. Due to the extremely thin surface finish, it scratches VERY easily and the controller is not very temperature resistant. It is very difficult to cook all the time and you need to constantly monitor this while cooking. It looks like a bad connection in the controller and not working properly to maintain temperature. The surface scratches easily and I only used a plastic spatula! Not as bad on "hot spots" as other pans I've used. I like the drip channel and the size. wouldn't buy it again.
