Review on Rancho RS999331 RS9000XL Series Shock: Unparalleled Performance and Quality in Suspension Technology by Eric Sharp

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The adjustment knobs are sensitive to off-road hazards.

This week (4/18) I will be removing them from my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I have to say that they were good at first, but over time they started to lose their ability to dampen faster than other dampeners. Another problem was that the adjustment knobs were very prone to damage off-road. I suppose if you don't pull off the road with the jeep jacked up (why did you jack it up in the first place) you shouldn't have any problems. They lasted a total of 2 off-road seasons, but I had to replace 2 adjustment knobs, one in the front and one in the back. I bought an analog in a non-adjustable case and I'm hoping for the best.

Pros
  • Nitrogen gas filled with nitrogen - optimizes impact performance
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
