I like this type of flux better than the water soluble ones. It stays where you put it and works especially well with 60/40 solder. (Plus, the smell really brings me back :-)) The downside is that it leaves a sticky residue, but it washes off perfectly with 100% alcohol (ethyl, methyl, or isopropyl). I prefer to clean printed circuit boards with mild, low-boiling solvents.
