All emergency radio functions work as expected. It is normal to have it at home or keep it in the car. What this radio lacks is the location and sensitivity of the radio's power button and power/volume knob. Grabbing and turning the crank without hitting the power button or accidentally turning on the radio is almost guaranteed. The power button is too big and delicate that it cannot be carried in a backpack pocket without being pressed and turned on. Or when they push you and turn on the radio. Good for at home but not for backpacking or hiking.
