Disappointed with Kidde reliability

Here is the story of our experience with Kidde smoke detectors to date: January 2014: We purchased and installed a fire alarm system consisting of 13 Kidde detectors: ( 2) Kidde PI2010 : AC/DC Wired Smoke Detector, Photoelectric/Ionization Detector(2) Kidde KN-COPE-IC: AC/DC Wired Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector(1) Kidde RF-SM-ACDC: AC/DC Master Wired /Wireless Ionization Smoke Detector( 4) Kidde RF-SM-DC: Slave DC ionization smoke detector 2014 October: 1st error:(1) Kidde RF-SM-DC: Slave DC ionization smoke detector 2017 July: 2nd error:( 1 ) Kidde RF-SM -DC: Wireless DC Ionization Smoke Detector. December 2018: 3rd and 4th errors: (2) Kidde KN-COPE-IC: AC/DC photoelectric smoke/carbon monoxide detector. in October 2014 to replace a previous failure. The failure mechanism was a false positive ring every time. Because all of these blocks are triggered at the same time and there is no indication of which block triggered the error, the troubleshooting methodology is tedious. Tired of this. Obviously we are looking for punishment as we are ordering two more Kidde KN-COPE IC devices today. I believe the next step will be to replace the entire system with another brand.

Pros
  • Front loading battery with unique battery door design
Cons
