Review on 🚘 ACDelco GM OE CF197 Cabin Air Filter by Alfredo Nosrac

OEM Part Great Price Great Quality Fits Chevy Volt 2017 (Gen2)

This was purchased for a friend for his Chevy Volt Gen2 (2017). The filter was packaged in a plastic bag with "Made in Mexico" part numbers, a warning that it could not be returned once opened, and an address in Detroit, Michigan. This item comes without instructions. I can't find any description of this filter online or on the box other than that it fits this car. The item itself is exactly the right replacement for what came with the car. The filter is darker in colour, which may indicate that it is an activated carbon filter, but again there is no description anywhere on the net. The filter has fewer creases than the one that came with the machine but is definitely heavier and thicker to compensate. The price here is a bargain considering my friend called 2 Chevy dealers for this and one asked for $80 and the other for $50 and it is a special order only at your standard auto parts store at twice the price Amazon sells. .The installation in Gen2 Volt is a great example of how you can not save money but reduce the cost of a car. On the Gen1, the cabin filter could be easily replaced through a slot on the back of the glove box. For Gen2 you will need a 7mm socket that is at least 5 inches long. There's a panel to the right of the glove box that holds the door, when it's closed you have to pull it off (hmm, do it when the door is open). There is a 7mm hex bolt for removal and 4 more on the edges of the glove box and inside the glove box itself. Once all 5 are removed you can simply pull the glove box out and open the filter compartment. There are some great YouTube videos to demonstrate this. This was the first time my friend had changed the filter in 3 years. It was immediately noticeable that the car smelled better, increased airflow from the air conditioner, and for some reason the air cooled faster when the air conditioner was on. Please don't wait 3 years like my friend. You'll find some potentially really gross stuff in there that could make the car's air smell bad.
