Review on Abatron WoodEpox Replacemnt Compound Gallon by David Golden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Today's most proven epoxy resin

I have tried many wood repair epoxies and this is now the best choice for small and large wood repair projects. For those who don't know, wood has gone up in price. The tree replacement job is just as bad. I'm a handyman and have long chosen to do most repairs myself. I'm getting experience with this project and keeping the existing wood in place. I got the largest container as I have used several smaller containers in previous projects. Trust me you won't regret your purchase. True, it's not cheap. But I wanted a permanent one, and that's the type of repair you get with wood epoxy. I have all the sandpaper and some sanders. After processing you will not be able to tell the difference between unopened wood and unopened wood. I also use liquid wood as a primer so the epoxy will stick and hold better. As others have suggested, you can mix them together to make the consistency less firm and more smooth. There is no difference in holding power. This makes it easier to patch small holes where things like nail holes should be held tightly together. In the photos for this review, I have repaired the side rails, which are cedar wood. I applied liquid wood and before it was dry I applied wood epoxy, roughened it up and sanded it the next day. I will update photos with the finished product. It turned out great!

Pros
  • wood simulation: Once WoodEpox has hardened, it can be easily sanded, sawed, milled, drilled, nailed, stained and painted.
Cons
  • Very expensive
