. This is a very good deal. I had a few issues with it which is reflected in my 3 star rating but none of them were a deal breaker. My old home videos, and I have a lot of them, are taped together. These joints often got caught in the tight S-curve between the film gate and the take-up spool. This means you can't leave the device unattended with long movies, otherwise you'll end up with long passages of one frame. I've found that you can bypass the S-curve and shoot the film smoothly. This device captures about two frames per second, so be prepared to keep an eye on it for long periods of time. The device records in a 4:3 aspect ratio, but when I imported the video into iMovie, it was stretched to 16:9 without being able to adjust the background. I had to preprocess the video to keep the aspect ratio. The device wants to play videos at 30 frames per second, which is too fast. In iMovie I was able to set the speed to 60% and it worked.
