I often have to take my pets to the vet, the hard top case ripped and took up a lot of space in my garage anyway. So I chose the soft side option as it is larger but folds easily and takes up very little space. This is good as the sides are very breathable thanks to the mesh or I can roll them up and zip them up. The corners are strong and anti-collision. This stretcher even has a removable, washable liner on the bottom. I love the whole design and my cat didn't seem to mind either. It's easy to open and install as it has stacks that fold and snap into place. My cats seem more relaxed in this carrier thanks to the large size and the fact that it's so breathable and open thanks to the mesh sides and top. Every detail of this carrier is high quality and I will never go back to a hard carrier!
