I live in New England and in the winter when it's hot I usually wake up with a bloody nose and a sore throat. I wake up with a moisturizer. It definitely serves its purpose. I was nervous about the noise level in all the other reviews. It's a bit noisy at high settings, but it's more like white noise. There are occasional gurgling noises, but that doesn't bother me. I'm a VERY light sleeper and it hasn't woken me up yet. I was also nervous about the night light. You can't turn it off, but it's very dark. I have it on the wall so I can't see it at all. But still, it reminds me of a digital watch. It's just a dull green. I'm sure there are other top-of-the-line humidifiers out there, but I was looking for an inexpensive one. I have no complaints.
