Beautiful, well built aluminum frame. When docked, it contains an 8" x 10" image. I personally removed the docking and framed the 11" x 14" watercolor without docking. The frame is definitely unusual in design. The top of the frame will rise after you carefully remove the loaded springs from three sides of the frame. Spring loaded or stretched over metal pieces, they hold the glass, counterpart, image and substrate firmly against the glass and do not move. The grip is so tight that you cannot adjust your picture while the springs are under tension. To load the frame, the springs must be removed. The setting is certainly strange, but it works! The appearance of the frame is very minimalist. Only a small portion of the frame draws attention, drawing attention to the artwork. The frame finish is also non-glossy, which also gives a minimalist feel. Overall, this is a great simple frame that puts the focus on what's in the frame.
