Many washers don't match colored sleeves. The stems on the colored grommets are also longer than those on the gold grommets (these appear to be designed for use with washers) so they don't close fully and end up floating a bit loose in the fabric. .The clip is difficult to use with colored grommets (mainly because they have longer stems) and it requires good hand strength to use. They are also very large and difficult to hold if you have small hands. Ultimately, I would suggest buying a different set, perhaps with a hand tool that you use with a hammer, rather than trying to squeeze them together using just the strength of your hand.
