First you need to install it properly. The schematic even says that wrong connection will damage the instruments, although they still work and don't explode (ha). So look at the bad reviews like I did before buying, they seem kinda wrong. Installation tips: Before charging, connect the voltage input wires in parallel with the test circuit. I just hooked up 14/2 15 amp wire line, a load (sprinkler system) and a meter with 3 wires in a wire nut. The meter and connections are housed in a double junction box with some plug modifications to fit securely in the box. It's super important to ONLY attach the hot load wire after the 3 wire connection with the wire nut and then bend the wire 90 degrees at the current transformer to get the most accurate current reading. (fire protection system). If an amp or two of voltage or current is off, the entire meter shuts down according to Ohm's Law. My cool new meter reads 120.8v, 0.07 amps, 5.6w, 60.0hz, 0.61 power factor. My UEI multimeter that I use for work shows 120.8V, 0.07 amps. I use it outside in a secure box. There is no sunlight.
