This isn't actually a night vision device as you don't bring it to your eye. It's like a portable NV mini TV but with zoom function, so you'd better have glasses with you to see this tiny screen. It is easy to use with a few buttons that have multiple functions. Night vision range is pretty good thanks to the built-in IR illuminator, but there's no place to attach another illuminator if you want to see further. It has a tripod mount so you can sit back and watch what's going on in the dark, if anything. And it also has Movie, Picture and Playback modes. If it had a Wi-Fi capability that would allow browsing on a tablet or cell phone, that would be better. As such, it's useless as a late-night harassment reconnaissance owing to the small screen and the screen that illuminates your face when you look at it. But maybe someone will find a way to use it for this purpose. It comes with a 32MB memory card and memory card reader, but you'll need to provide the required 5 AA batteries and some sort of carrying case to carry it around. I just wish there was a screen magnifier option that sticks to the screen.
