At best, at worst, it feels like you're under.
I recently bought an arc lamp to hang over my sofa. The problem with using a "regular" lightbulb is that when you stand directly under the lamp, the light shines into your eyes, at best, at worst it feels like you're being interrogated. I don't know who came up with this design but they are pretty cool!. No glare. There is no light in your eyes. The only downside is that the bulb gets very hot. Not enough to burn out the lampshade, though. I would feel uncomfortable leaving the lights on at night.
