I only have heated gloves. I used them for a season without a controller and found you don't really need one. When it's very cold, full power is enough, and when it's not very cold, they don't need to be plugged in. I wore them with inserts. But sometimes my fingers got a little warm, so I gave up and ordered this device. Somewhat disappointed was the lack of a bracket or other device that would allow you to attach it to a belt or the edge of a garment. It connects between the harness and my permanently installed socket under the seat. It doesn't attach to anything on the bike, so add a few more feet of cable with a derailleur dangling from it that needs to be secured somehow. If it is under the jacket you will not be able to press the button, and if it is outside it may scratch the tank's paintwork or other surface. It's going to take a little time to understand, and you need a solution that's specific to your hardware. Another thing that surprised me is that it only has 4 discrete levels. Somehow I expected that you could use it to constantly control the temperature. With 5 levels (when you turn it off) you only get 3 more than no controller (on/off).
