I took the measurements they recommended and one of my dogs turned out to be a bit too big. If your dog is on the size limit I would go down a size. It still worked, but one of my dogs looked a bit silly. The grip is great. We kayaked for a couple of hours with our two dogs, they swam and then returned to the kayak and I was able to use the handle to lift our small dog out of the water and I was able to use the large dog to get into the kayak. I think it helped a lot with their swimming because my dogs swam for hours with a few short breaks and I couldn't get them out of the water. I wish they had more color options. Overall a great product and worked great.
