We've used the plastic version of this water bottle successfully for years. I'm trying to reduce the use of plastic in general, especially what we use to eat and drink. I've ordered several stainless steel bottles at once and they're still our favorites and definitely the ones my kids use the most. Another advantage of stainless steel is that we can add a few ice cubes and it stays cool longer than plastic. I will probably buy more of these. They don't leak when closed if all the pieces are assembled correctly, which helps a lot if you're tossing a few water bottles in your bag.
