Review on 🐠 PENN-PLAX NuWave Betta Fish Tank Kit - Black - 1.5 Gallon with LED Light and Internal Filter by Molly Carlson

Bought this small aquarium for my Betta, Swim Shady. I have it on my desk at work otherwise I would put it in a 5 gallon tank. When I first got this tank the filter didn't work. It didn't turn on, didn't even show any signs of trying to work. Contacted Revain and they expedited a new set for me. I installed this filter and it works great. I'll probably consider a denser piece of filter foam that will slow down the flow a bit, but Swim Shady seems to love it! He has real plants in this tank, not his old one, and the day I moved him to this one he made a foam nest! As an option, it kept the tank at a constant temperature of 77-78 degrees Fahrenheit. The LED lamp is really good and makes the aquarium bright and cheerful. The filter is connected across the light and I was afraid the light switch would turn off the filter as well, but it isn't! The filter stays on as long as it's plugged in, which is nice. I turn him off for a minute or two every day to feed him so his food doesn't run out too quickly. I'm glad the customer service was great and Swim can now enjoy her new home! UPDATE: RIP Swim Shady. He lived life to the fullest. I converted this tank for my new fighting fish, Mackrelmore. He loves it as much as Swim Shady. Swim Shady's fins were badly torn because he liked to sit under the filter and was too strong. I ended up buying API 30ppi filter foam to slow down the filter. It didn't do much to slow the flow, so I dug up what is essentially the foam cap that sits on the bottom of the filter to protect the betta's fins (you can see it in my second photo). It helped a lot. Also, setting the filter to one side and as high as possible will help the betta swim comfortably. I look forward to a good, long time with Mackrelmore.
