Am I missing something here?

Sorry but what are you talking about? Honestly I'm confused by all of these reviews that this thing looks like a miracle they've been waiting for or can't live without, an item that their friends and families were so impressed with that they all immediately went and their own jars bought from cool bright lids. Let me be blunt: I pour hot water into a pitcher, dip in the infusion which will of course displace some of the water that more concentrated tea might contain, then wait the required 2-5 minutes to brew, pull out the infusion, and add ice. So turning hot tea into iced tea by adding ice? what I already could. With every pitcher, mug, teapot or whatever I've already used to make iced tea. Without spending $25 on "Quick Chill"? Hmm, you add ice, which really cools it down, except it dilutes the tea significantly (and no, you can't just "add more tea" as someone suggested, because tea needs hot or boiling water). If you like diluted tea, that's up to you, but I have to tell you that your tea standards are pretty low. Can I make it stronger at the beginning? Of course, like I can do with any other mug. And by the way, if I don't want to drink all the tea right now, what then, do I put the steamed pot of tea and ice cubes in the fridge? Hm. Yes, there is an infusion, I understand. For the vast majority of people who use tea bags, are they really needed? Tea bags take up very little space in a water pitcher, unlike a large teapot. And if you're using loose tea, then you already have a teapot. Oh, but that's a really big infusor, you might say. Well, if you add fruit or whatever, then yes, this could actually be the pitcher you've been dreaming of. If you're just adding loose tea, wow, how much tea are you putting in this thing? Any container, right? I thought the main feature of this pot is that it makes iced tea instantly instead of brewing overnight in the fridge, to each their own. I bought it not knowing that the middle section is a brewing device. I figured it would be a solid ice box that chills tea instantly WITHOUT diluting it with water. I should have been more careful. Guilty. It gets two stars because it's a very nice jug that fits nicely in the fridge door. It gets three negative stars for posing as a new way of making instant ice tea. This is a pot in which hot tea is mixed with ice. That's all he does boys. You won't see miracles here.

Pros
  • Kitchen and dining room
Cons
  • Good but not great
