Review on 🚪 Petmate Compass Plastic Pet Kennel featuring a Sleek Chrome Door by Abby Libbett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Certainly good enough, but not exactly precision craftsmanship

Good kennels for small animals (12 lb terrier in my case). Spacious enough for the dog to turn around even with the water bowl attached to the kennel door blocking part of the space. I used it on a recent road trip and our dog was comfortable during the trip and willingly climbed into the kennel when we were ready to go for our daily walks. For me, a dog's willingness to walk is the highest measure of "good quality". The build quality is good, but not perfect. The plastic molding left some rough edges (referred to as "lightning" if you're familiar with plastic molding terminology). They can be easily cut with a knife or razor blade. The cage door can be opened from both sides, which is very convenient. However, it is not always easy to install the locking pins in the holes on the first try. Once the top and bottom pieces are attached together, screws are threaded through the corners to hold the pieces together. The nuts on the bolts are simply molded plastic wing nuts. You will likely break if you plan to disassemble and reassemble it multiple times. Go to the hardware store and buy metal wing nuts if this happens. We also have a larger Petmate Cattery in comparison and it doesn't have any of the "flaws" mentioned above. Overall, I am satisfied with the cattery and would recommend it to a friend. Good value for money.
