This 100% natural coconut shell rug is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It has a thick, dense fabric that will last a long time. I preferred them to all the floor mats at Wal-Mart, which were natural but often coated with synthetic colors and bonded to a plastic or synthetic rubber backing. The artificial floor mats smelled bad. The chemicals have evaporated. 100% natural coir rugs can be turned side to side while most other rugs cannot. I bought this to stand at the computer terminal. Yes, this thing does shed, but any material not bonded to plastic or other synthetic binders like all competing mats do will be the same. I have a small Dyson V8 handheld vacuum that I use to wipe down the mat every few days. No problem. I love this rug!
