The plastic quality is about the same as the more expensive OEM's I've used on Triumph and Suzuki. The main support is a bracket that screws under each mirror. I had to bend the mounts to align the guard where I needed it. I also ended up drilling a hole elsewhere for a screw that attaches the plastic guard to the bracket. I bought the black screws from the hardware store because the prongs stand out. I also ended up using a grinder to shape the right side bracket to match the brake fluid reservoir. These two modifications allowed the inner ends of the forearm not to touch the windshield of my Givi at full rotation.
