These oversize jackets can be hit or miss. Too big and it can look like you stole a large man's coat or wore your bathrobe out on the street. Too small, and it looks like you don't know how to buy clothes that fit. I got the XL and it fit true to size. It's actually loose enough that I could layer it over the fitted hoodie I was wearing (and I had a t-shirt on underneath) and it wasn't too bulky.I'm deducting a point because there were a lot of loose threads in the stitching that I'm going to have to snip off and it's pretty thin. This is kind of an autumnal/California winter weight coat, so it really wouldn't hold up to actually cold weather. I didn't mind too much about the weight because I do live in California and prefer lighter-weight coats, but I didn't like the cheapness of the material. I'm also not sure how firmly those buttons are sewn on. I'd be careful doing them up and down.
