Although the aerator pumps a lot of air into the minnow bucket, it is VERY loud. The noise can be heard at least 15 to 20 feet away. So if your radio isn't on or your outboard motor isn't running, this device will bother you. I have another brand of aerator that only runs on 2D batteries and lasts 8-10 hours before the batteries die, but it's so quiet I have to put it to my ear to even hear it working . I was hoping this unit would be similar but it's nowhere near, but since it has a 12 volt adapter I don't have to worry about spare batteries. I put the unit in a storage box under one of the pontoon seats to muffle the sound and it seems like a good solution.
