I ordered this fixture to replace a dated looking fixture in a 10' bedroom hallway. I've replaced many of the older fixtures in my home with can lights, but the act of opening up a hole in the ceiling to insert the can, then working through the rewiring necessary to make it work, is a lot of work and money. When I saw this, I thought "Why not?" After installation, my response is "Heck yes!"The body of this fixture is all metal and has a brushed stainless steel finish on the exposed portions. The dome over the light is an opaque plastic with a slightly nubby finish. The fixture is very slim, and when placed on the ceiling, looks like a can light with a stainless steel trim ring. After removing the dated fixture and all of its mounting hardware, I loosely installed the two screws provided with the fixture into the holes in my ceiling box that are 4 inches apart. I then removed the plastic cover/dome from the new fixture by using my thumbs to apply pressure at the edges and twisting the cover counter-clockwise. Next, I removed the small tape pieces over the slots on the new fixture marked for 4-inch spacing (the fixture can also accommodate both 5- and 6-inch spacing based upon which tape tabs you remove.) I then connected the wires. white, black and green. Next I pushed the fixture up to feed the screw heads through the slots, twisted the fixture to hold in the slots, then finished tightening the screws. Finally, I positioned the cover/dome back over the face of the fixture and twisted it clockwise to lock it in place. This entire process took about 5 minutes and required the use of a screwdriver. The amount of light provided by this fixture is significantly more than the 60-watt equivalent Daylight LED bulb that it replaced. Light shines both downward and outward, providing more than sufficient lighting for the hallway. The only con, if you can consider it a con, is that the LED lighting disc is integrated to the fixture. If the LED's begin to burn out, or if the driver (transformer) fails, then the entire fixture has to be replaced. However, fixtures like this are rated for significantly long lives based upon usage and will likely outlast the homeowner's period before a decor change. At the current price of $9 for the unit, this is probably the least expensive product to own and use, nor does it impact the pocket too much when it's time to replace it. If you're replacing traditional incandescent or fluorescent bulbs, the power savings and bulb costs alone will likely pay for it.I would definitely consider a fixture like this for replacement fixtures over an existing ceiling box. The result is a modern, sleek and trim light that provides more than enough light for most needs. I would definitely order this product again.
